It appears that classical art is becoming popular again, and I’m beginning to think this is how AI establishes its unique visual identity. The continuous exploration and remixing with a similar aesthetic across various brands feels like an evolution from what came before. The lifespan of trends has never been shorter, and with the cost of creation and duplication being lower, the essence of this seems to be “create it but modify...” leading us to classical art reimagined in ASCII form.

According to A Color Bright's analysis of AI brand aesthetics, these trends fall squarely within what the piece calls the contemporary realism category. While many other brands — Anthropic included — lean toward a simpler, artisanal visual language, the emergence of ContraLabs reinforces a pattern worth examining: a deliberate push to connect AI to ancient sources of truth, paired with the idea of augmenting rather than replacing human capability. Greek classical imagery, the idealized human form as a model for optimization, captures that tension precisely (A Color Bright, n.d.).
